Flood drainage hose

Large-diameter layflat for emergency field drainage and excess water removal. Rapid-deployment design, compact storage.

Best for: emergency flood response, seasonal drainage, stormwater removal

Large-Diameter Drainage Layflat

Our flood drainage layflat is designed for rapid deployment when water needs to be moved fast. It lays flat when empty for compact storage and springs to full bore the moment water flows, providing maximum cross-section for high-volume discharge.

The lightweight PVC construction allows one person to deploy 50 meters of 8-inch hose in minutes. Dual-port discharge manifolds and Y-splitter connections enable paralleling multiple hoses off a single pump for extreme flow capacity.

Challenges solved by correct drainage hose selection

Slow deployment during flash flooding

When heavy rain hits, every minute counts. Rigid pipe systems take hours or even days to assemble. Our layflat hose can be pulled from storage, connected to a pump, and discharging water in under 10 minutes. No special tools, no heavy equipment, no assembly required — just unroll, connect, and pump.

Bulk storage between seasons

Traditional rigid drainage pipe requires significant permanent storage space and is difficult to transport between fields. Layflat hose solves this by compressing to a fraction of its operating volume when drained. A 100-meter length of 8-inch layflat coils down to a compact roll that fits on a pallet or in a truck bed.

Hose bursting under head pressure

In hilly terrain or when draining from a higher elevation, the static head pressure of water inside a long hose can exceed the burst rating of standard layflat — causing catastrophic failure at the lowest point. Our heavy-duty layflat is engineered with higher burst margins specifically for gravity drainage over distance.

Case study: Seasonal flood drainage, Egypt

How 8-inch layflat hose enabled rapid seasonal flood drainage with compact off-season storage.

Egypt Agriculture

Situation: A farm in the Nile Delta region needed to drain accumulated water from low-lying fields during the seasonal flood period. Previously using rigid PVC pipe that required 2 days to install and occupied a full storage shed during the dry season.

Solution: Switched to 8-inch layflat drainage hose with camlock ends and a 6-inch diesel pump. 200 meters of hose stored in two 50cm×50cm coils.

Outcome: Deployment time reduced from 2 days to 1 hour. Storage space reduced 95%. The layflat hose paid for itself in the first season through labor savings alone.

Flood drainage hose FAQ

What size drainage hose do I need for my field?

The required diameter depends on the water volume to be removed and the distance to the discharge point. For most agricultural flood drainage, 6-inch hose handles 500–800 gallons per minute (GPM), 8-inch handles 800–1,200 GPM, and 10–12 inch handles 1,200+ GPM. We recommend sizing for the worst-case rainfall event you expect.

How quickly can layflat drainage hose be deployed?

Layflat hose can be deployed in minutes. One person can pull a 50-meter length of 8-inch layflat from a coil or storage bag and connect it to a pump outlet in under 5 minutes. No special tools or equipment are needed for deployment. The hose self-expands when water pressure is applied.

How should drainage hose be stored between seasons?

Layflat hose should be drained completely, cleaned of mud and debris, dried thoroughly, and coiled loosely in a cool, dry location away from direct sunlight. When properly stored, our PVC layflat drainage hose occupies approximately 1/50th the storage volume of rigid pipe of equivalent capacity. Store off concrete floors to prevent moisture wicking.
