How the selection guide works

Three questions that capture what matters for hose specification.

1. Identify the fluid

Water, slurry, chemicals, fuel, air, or food product. The fluid chemistry dictates tube material and liner compatibility.

2. Name the environment

Agriculture, mining, construction, industrial, food-grade, or oil & fuel. The operating environment determines cover material, UV resistance, and reinforcement.

3. Set the priority

Pressure rating, flow volume, abrasion resistance, chemical compatibility, or food safety. We match the hose construction to your critical spec.

Hose material selection reference

Quick guide to common hose materials and their typical operating ranges.

Material Temperature Range Typical Pressure Best For Standards
PVC (Polyvinyl Chloride) -15°C to 60°C 80–250 PSI Water, irrigation, drainage, light chemicals RoHS, REACH
TPU (Thermoplastic Polyurethane) -40°C to 80°C 100–300 PSI Abrasive slurry, mine dewatering, oil-resistant RoHS, REACH
Nitrile (NBR) -30°C to 100°C 150–300 PSI Diesel, fuel oils, lubricants, petroleum ISO 8031 anti-static
EPDM Rubber -40°C to 120°C 150–250 PSI Hot water, outdoor UV, mild chemicals UV-resistant
Silicone (VMQ) -60°C to 200°C 30–100 PSI Pharmaceutical, food, high-temp transfer USP Class VI, NSF/3A
PTFE (Polytetrafluoroethylene) -70°C to 260°C Full vacuum to 200 PSI Aggressive chemicals, solvents, pure product USP Class VI, FDA

Values are typical ranges. Final specification depends on hose construction, wall thickness, and reinforcement. Contact us for specific product datasheets.

End fitting & coupling types

Common connection types used on industrial hoses — and which application each suits best.

Fitting Type Connection Method Typical Applications Pressure Rating
Camlock (A, B, C, D, E, F) Quick-connect lever arms with gasket seal Water transfer, irrigation, chemical unloading, tanker trucks Up to 150 PSI
NPT (National Pipe Thread) Tapered threaded connection, sealant or tape Air compressors, hydraulic systems, plumbing connections Up to 300 PSI+
BSP (British Standard Pipe) Parallel or tapered thread, BSPP or BSPT European & Asian equipment, hydraulic fittings Up to 300 PSI+
Flange (ANSI, DIN, JIS) Bolt-on flanged connection with gasket High-pressure chemical transfer, mining slurry, tank farm Up to 600 PSI+
Storz Quarter-turn coupling with lug mating Fire fighting, municipal hydrant connections Up to 400 PSI
NH / NST (National Hose) Threaded fire hose connection Fire apparatus, hydrants, attack lines Up to 300 PSI
JIC 37° Flared seat, threaded union nut Hydraulic systems, high-pressure oil lines Up to 6000 PSI

We supply hose assemblies with pre-attached couplings per your specification. Standard lead time 5–8 working days for custom assemblies.

Frequently asked questions

Common questions about hose selection and specification.

What information do I need to select the right hose?

Three things: the fluid being transferred (water, chemical, slurry, etc.), the operating environment (outdoor UV exposure, underground, food plant), and the key performance requirement (pressure, abrasion resistance, chemical compatibility, or food safety). The selection guide above walks through each.

Can I get a sample before placing a bulk order?

Yes. We provide paid samples with Factory Direct pricing. Sample lead time is 3–5 working days. The sample cost is deducted from your first production order.

What is the minimum order quantity?

MOQ varies by hose type. Standard PVC and layflat hoses: 500m per size. Rubber hoses: 200m per size. Specialty chemical and food-grade hoses: 100m per size. Contact us for exact MOQ on your specification.

How do I know which diameter and working pressure I need?

We recommend matching your existing pump outlet diameter and required flow rate. Our technical team can calculate the correct ID, wall thickness, and working pressure based on your pump spec and hose length. Send us your pump details through the inquiry form.

Do you provide custom hose lengths and end fittings?

Yes. We cut to requested lengths and fit camlock, flange, NPT, BSP, or JIC couplings per your specification. Custom length lead time is 5–8 working days depending on fitting type.
